We are here for you
Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the hardest things a family goes through. There is no way to make it easy, but you do not have to navigate it alone.
At Horse Heaven Hills Pet Urgent Care & Veterinary Center, we believe a peaceful passing is the last gift we can give our pets. Our team approaches every end-of-life visit with honesty, patience, and genuine care, for your pet and for everyone who loves them. Whether you have been preparing for this moment for some time or it has come sooner than expected, we will walk alongside you through every step.
If you are not yet certain and want to talk through your pet's quality of life before making any decisions, our veterinarians are here for that conversation too.
Our comfort rooms
End-of-life visits at our clinic take place in one of two dedicated comfort rooms, designed specifically for this purpose. These rooms are intentionally different from our standard exam spaces. They are quieter, softer, and built to feel more like home than a clinic.
Each comfort room includes:
- Soft lighting and a calm, peaceful atmosphere
- Comfortable seating for family members
- Cozy blankets and bedding for your pet
- A private setting with no sense of rush
What to expect
Knowing what the process looks like can help ease some of the anxiety of the unknown.

Options for your pet's remains
- Home Burial: You may take your pet home for burial on your own property. We will provide a bag or blanket for transport. Please check your local regulations regarding home burial before making this choice.
- Communal Cremation: Your pet is cremated with other pets, and the ashes are scattered in a peaceful memorial area. This is a gentle option for families who do not wish to keep their pet's remains.
- Private Cremation: Your pet is cremated individually, and their ashes are returned to you in an urn or container of your choice. Private cremation typically takes one to two weeks. We can also help arrange keepsake options including paw print impressions and fur clippings.
In–home euthanasia
For some families, being at home is what feels right. Your pet knows every corner of your home, and for many animals, there is no more comfortable place to be.
Our mobile service offers peaceful end-of-life care in your home, on your terms, in the environment where your pet feels safest. To arrange an in-home visit, call us at (509) 581-0647.
